Description

This CUSO seminar aims at providing an overview of current theoretical and methodological debates in the field of resource extraction and energy transition studies. The program will be structured around three interconnected axes, all of which will consist of a keynote topic.

1- Extractive frontiers today: a historical overview and future agendas

Suggested speaker: Martín Arboleda

2- Methodologies in studying extractivism: feminist contributions

Suggested speaker: Adrienne Johnson

3- Case studies: transition minerals, energy transition

Suggested speaker: Cristobal Bonelli

The keynote sessions will be followed by thematic workshops in which PhDs can present their ongoing work and receive feedback from the speakers and colleagues, as well as build skills to apply while studying extractivism and energy transition. We hope to combine this activity with a panel with the three speakers, open to the broader academic public - either in person (respecting sanitary norms) or through online streaming.
