Résumé de la thèse

Interactions between environmental degradation and migration are complex processes which vary to some extent from one location to another. To better understand local uncertainties, displacement or migration, the study of the link between climate change and migration needs to consider a plethora of factors not only the climate. This research project reviews assessment of local trends in drought, desiccation of Urmia Lake as well as, land degradation. The objectives of this study project are threefold:

1) To discover and describe the causes of forced migration in relation to environmental degradation/change and their association with other social, political and economic phenomena in selected region,

2) To provide plausible future scenarios of environmentally-induced forced migration and

3) To explore coping strategies and adaptation measures.
